Stephen King’s Castle Rock has been a major topic of discussion in the horror community for quite some time now ever since it was announced that he would be teaming back up with J.J. Abrams to create it on Hulu.
“Vintage Splatterpunk fiction!”
There has been one teaser released for Stephen King’s Castle Rock, but it was a vague series of montages that showed a web of names and character lines from his classic books that have been somewhat affiliated with Stephen King’s home state of Maine.
But now, J.J. Abrams went on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and spoke about a few details of Stephen King’s Castle Rock that might get fans excited about what’s to come.
First of all, Stephen King’s Castle Rock will include some of his legendary characters that have been featured in his horror novels over the years, but only in a minor form.
“Castle Rock is this town that [Stephen King] made famous in all these different books… and these two writers, Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw, came up with this incredibly cool, terrifying, weird, funny idea of a series, new story, that takes place in this town,” J.J. Abrams told Jimmy Fallon during a comical exchange. “And all of these characters from Stephen King’s books sort of are peripherally involved.”
“Atmospheric and Creepy”
J.J. Abrams also said that he and his two writers pitched the idea to Stephen King himself and the famed horror writer “went nuts for it.”
What is really unique about Stephen King’s Castle Rock is that it is not about just one of his many books that took place in the fictional town of Castle Rock, but rather all of his novels and characters who have been a part of the Stephen King universe. It seems as though the Castle Rock title is just a metaphor that clearly let’s fans know what the series is about.
