Stephen King’s The Mist was perhaps one of the most cruel and tragic conclusions to a story that has ever been made for the horror film genre. Directed by Frank Darabont in 2007, the ending of Stephen King’s The Mist featured one particular character faced with the most heart breaking decision anyone could ever have to make in their life.
“Vintage horror fiction!”

In a new video with original footage from Frank Darabont’s feature length adaptation of The Mist by Stephen King, it has now been edited to portray the true ending of The Mist as King originally intended for it to be.
But you should make no mistake – Stephen King has already went on record saying that he liked the way the Frank Darabont directed The Mist and the way he ended the film that was based on his novella of the same name.
“Atmospheric and Creepy”
Fundamentally, the alternate ending of Stephen King’s The Mist takes one painful scene away, but it also adds another dose of doubt and misery to the story. So either way, The Mist wrapped up on what appears to be a tragic note.
Take a look for yourself below and see if this book-inspired ending for Stephen King’s The Mist pans out better or worse than Frank Darabont’s visions for the horror story. Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments.
