Horror fans will be thrilled to learn that The Cloverfield Paradox, a prequel to the original film from ten years ago, is coming to Netflix tonight after the Super Bowl. Although there has been a ton of hype for the franchise lately, the prequel film will be just the right flavor to wet your appetite for more.
For those who were watching the Super Bowl, then you may have already seen the teaser-trailer for The Cloverfield Paradox, but you might not have know that it is debuting tonight directly after the game. It will be interesting to see just how much impact that commercial has on holdover viewers that keep watching the next show after a Super Bowl, or if they will tune out of their broadcast channel and log on to Netflix for the film.
Cloverfield is a unique franchise that focuses much less on the monster and more on the world-building philosophy. A sequel, or maybe it might be better classified as a spinoff, 10 Cloverfield Lane, was recently released in 2016 to use the phenomenon to build hype and hysteria within the characters of the franchise. Of course, most know that 10 Cloverfield Lane was based on doomsday prepping and it wasn’t until the end that we realized there was more fallout than we knew.
Either way, you can watch The Cloverfield Paradox tonight on Netflix, after the Super Bowl. Stars of the film include John Ortiz, Elizabeth Debicki, David Oyelowo, Chris O’Dowd, Ziyi Zhang, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Daniel Bruhl. What little I have seen in the trailer for The Cloverfield Paradox, there really isn’t much to tell at this point, other than it has J.J. Abrams producing. But it also featured a lot of footage from the original Cloverfield, which is kind of cool to see.
Check out the teaser-trailer for The Cloverfield Paradox below and let me know what you think of the film, assuming you’re going directly over to Netflix to watch it.
