The Walking Dead has featured its fair share of directors over its six season stretch on AMC, but there is one in particular that will be making the plunge back into her horror roots for a Halloween movie.
Jennifer Lynch, who some may know as the daughter of famed director David Lynch, has been a mainstay on The Walking Dead serving in the role as an episodic director for the AMC show for several years now, according to Variety.

Not only has Jennifer Lynch been instrumental in directing several episodes of The Walking Dead, but she has also directed episodes of other great shows like Quantico, Teen Wolf, The Last Ship, and Wayward Pines.

Jennifer Lynch will also be teaming back up with The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd to direct this new Halloween movie, which will be produced with CBS Films.

The name of the movie will be Hellfest and it seems to be taking a cue from Rob Zombies upcoming feature, 31. The basic premise behind the film is that patrons of horror theme park start to get picked off by a killer in a costume. But no one suspects anything, thinking it’s all part of the theme park’s attractions.
“We have loved the concept of Hellfest since Gale brought it to us and we have been waiting for exactly the right director,” Terry Press, President of CBS Films, said. “Jennifer came to us with both the passion and the vision necessary to make Hellfest a terrifying Halloween tradition.”
There has been no word yet as to when Hellfest will start production, nor when it is expected to be released. There is a good chance that it will premiere sometime around Halloween in 2017, though.
